There was a farmer in Africa who was happy and content. He was happy because he was content. He was content because he was happy.
One day a wise man came to him and told him about the glory of diamonds and the power that goes along with them. The wise man said, "If you had a diamond the size of your thumb, you could have your own city.
If you had a diamond the size of your fist, you could probably own your own country." And then he went away. That night the farmer couldn't sleep. He was unhappy and he was discontent. He was unhappy because he was discontent and discontent because he was unhappy.
The next morning he made arrangements to sell off his farm, took care of his family and went in search of diamonds.
He looked all over Africa and couldn't find any. He looked all through Europe and couldn't find any. When he got to Spain, he was emotionally, physically and financially broke.
He got so disheartened that he threw himself into the Barcelona River and committed suicide.
Back home, the person who had bought his farm was watering the camels at a stream that ran through the farm. Across the stream, the rays of the morning sun hit a stone and made it sparkle like a rainbow.
He thought it would look good on the mantle piece. He picked up the stone and put it in the living room.
That afternoon the wise man came and saw the stone sparkling. He asked, "Is Hafiz back?" The new owner said, "No, why do you ask?" The wise man said, "Because that is a diamond.
I recognize one when I see one." The man said, no, that's just a stone I picked up from the stream. Come, I'll show you. There are many more." They went and picked some samples and sent them for analysis. Sure enough, the stones were diamonds. They found that the farm was indeed covered with acres and acres of diamonds
What inspiration you derive from the story?
The moral is when your attitude is right you naturally think in the right direction and you easily recognize the opportunity that comes your way.
On the other hand when your attitude is wrong, you always tend to focus on the grass at the other side of the road.
In other words finding short-cuts to get success. But the truth is there is no short-cut to success in life.
Remember the grass always appear greener on the other side.
But what you forget is while you're eyeing the grass on the other side, there are others who're eyeing the grass at your end.
Believe me or not, but they would be happy trade places with you.
In the end the conclusion is always focus on what you can do better to improve the situation you're already in, rather than trying to change the situation which only drags you down.
#2. Motivational Story on Hype of Education
Before I write something, I want to clear one thing that I am not against education. In fact education is the basics of learning the important principles of life.
But I believe most of the times we confuse education with success.
As far as I am concerned I believe primary education is enough to learn the basics of daily life and adjust in the society where you live in.
YES! someone who wants to study and learn a lot its absolutely awesome.
But I believe education has not much to do with achieving success in life.....I hope its clear.
Let me share with you a beautiful story to prove my point.
This story about a man who sold hot dogs by the roadside.
He was illiterate, so he never read newspapers.
He was hard of hearing, so he never listened to the radio.
His eyes were weak, so he never watched television.
But very eagerly and happily, he sold lots of hot dogs.
His sales and profit went up. He ordered more meat and got himself a bigger and a better stove.
As his business was growing, the son, who had recently graduated from college, joined his father.
Then something strange happened. The son asked, "Dad, aren't you aware of the great recession that is coming our way?" The father replied, "No, but tell me about it." The son said, "The international situation is terrible.
The domestic is even worse. We should be prepared for the coming bad time." The man thought that since his son had been to college, read the papers, and listened to the radio, he ought to know and his advice should not be taken lightly.
So the next day, the father cut down his order for the meat and buns, took down the sign and was no longer enthusiastic. Very soon, fewer and fewer people bothered to stop at his hot dog stand.
And his sales started coming down rapidly. The father said to his son, "Son, you were right. We are in the middle of a recession. I am glad you warned me ahead of time."
Once again what is the moral of the story?
Many times we confuse intelligence with good judgement.
Just because someone holds a degree in college doesn't mean he or she can make good judgement.
Someone may have very high intellectual level, but extremely poor judgement.
Remember you can be successful with basic formal education if you have the character, honesty and the will power to do it.
Intelligence is quickness to learn. Ability is the skill to apply what is learned. Competence is the ability and the desire to apply what is learned.
Desire is the attitude that makes a skillful person competent. Many skillful people are incompetent. Ability without the right attitude is waste of time and energy.
Intelligence is how fast and easily you adapt and learn something and there are plenty who can learn things quickly, What important is motivation and ability to apply correctly what you learned.
And to apply what you learned you need to have the burning desire and motivation to succeed in life.
In the above example the man was illiterate, but he had the motivation to sell more and more hot dogs.
That was the only intelligent quality he possessed. So he learned and applied it correctly with desire, honesty, dedication and character....I hope you got the point.
So whom shall we called educated and skillful. The following paragraphs are awesome read them full and note them down if you want to stay motivated in life.
Someone who can handle peacefully the situations which they encounter in their daily life; and those who can judge situations correctly and efficiently as they occur and rarely miss the suitable course of action.
Someone who is honest in their dealings with everyone, bearing and accepting politely what is unpleasant or offensive in others, and being as good and considerate with their associates as is humanly possible.
Someone who can hold their pleasures always under control and are not extremely effected by their misfortunes, bearing up under them bravely and in a manner worthy of our common nature.
someone who can handle success easily and not get spoiled by it, and do not desert their true selves, but hold their ground steadfastly as wise and sober-minded men, rejoicing no more in the good things that have come to them through chance than in those which through their own nature and intelligence are theirs since birth.
Source - Socrates (47~399 B.C.)
The motivation to achieve success in life and live the life of your dreams comes from the burning desire to fulfill a purpose.
Napoleon Hill wrote, "Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve."
A young man asked Socrates the secret to success.
Socrates told the young man to meet him near the river the next morning. They met. Socrates asked the young man to walk with him toward the river.
When the water got up to their neck, Socrates took the young man by surprise and ducked him into the water.
The boy struggled to get out but Socrates was strong and kept him there until the boy started turning blue.
Socrates pulled his head out of the water and the first thing the young man did was to gasp and take a deep breath of air.
Socrates asked, 'What did you want the most when you were there?" The boy replied, "Air." Socrates said, "That is the secret to success.
When you want success as badly as you wanted the air, then you will get it." There is no other secret.
The moral of the story is you need to be motivated enough to have that burning desire to succeed in life.
It is the beginning point of all achievements. Just like a small fire cannot produce much heat, a weak desire cannot produce great results....
I hope its making sense and believe me or not, it all starts with motivation, unless you're motivated you cannot accomplish your dream life.
#4. Success Comes To Those Who Take Pride in Their Work
Three people were laying bricks and a passerby asked them what they were doing.
The first one replied, "Don't you see I am making a living?" The second one said, "Don't you see I am laying bricks?"
The third one said, "I am building a beautiful monument." Three people doing the same thing gave totally different replies.
The question is: did they have different attitudes? And would their attitude affect their performance? The answer is a clear yes.
Excellence comes when the performer takes pride in doing his best.
Every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it, regardless of what the job is, whether washing cars, sweeping the floor or painting a house.
Do it right the first time, every time. The best insurance for tomorrow is a job well done today.
Michelangelo was working on a statue for several days and he was taking a long time to retouch every small detail which seemed rather insignificant to a observer.
When asked why he did it, Michelangelo replied, "Trifles make perfection and perfection is no trifle."
Remember its not about how fast you did the job, its all about how perfectly it was done and that's the only thing people will remember and not how fast you did.
If a man is called to be street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry.
He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well - By Martin Luther King, Jr.
#5. Success Comes To Those Who're Motivated Enough To Accept The Challenges and Take Calculated Risks
Once someone asked a farmer if he had planted wheat for the season.
The farmer replied, "No. I was afraid it wouldn't rain." Then the man asked, "Did you plant corn?" The farmer said, "No. I was afraid of insects eating one corn.
Then the man asked , " What did you plant ? " The farmer said, "Nothing. I played it safe."
If you cannot take risks in life, you just cannot change your life circumstances.
Of course you won't lose anything if you don't take risks.
But at the same time you also won't gain anything.
Tell me what's the point of living a worthless life where you lack the desire and motivation to do something?
I will tell why you're afraid of taking risks in life.....Trust me you already know it in your heart. I just want to expose you.
The fear of failure....Yes! it stops you from taking risks in life. It seems like an never ending problem in your life and believe me no one wants to face problems and difficulties in life.
And I know sometimes even when you build courage and take risks the problems seems overwhelming and it breaks your ability and courage.
And in those circumstances quitting seems to be the easiest option. It is true for every marriage, job and relationship.
What you forget is problems can definitely effect you badly, but certainly cannot destroy or break you, if you're motivated enough.
Remember we all have had setbacks in life. Failing does not mean we are failures. You fail only when you accept it.
A man is a hero not because he is braver than anyone else, but because he is brave for ten minutes longer.
#6. Last But Not The Least There is No Short-Cut To Success
There is a story about a king who called his advisers and asked them to write down the wisdom of the ages so that he could pass it on to future generations.
After a lot of work, the advisers came up with several volumes of wisdom and presented them to the king. The king called his advisers and said that it was too long, people would not read it. They had to condense it.
The advisers went back to work and came back with one volume. The king said the same thing.
They came back again with one chapter and then one page, and the king said the same thing still until they came up with one sentence that satisfied the king.
He said that if there was one piece of wisdom that he wanted to pass on to future generations, it is this one sentence: "There is no free lunch
Trust me everyone loves to get things in free, without working for it. Trust me even I do sometimes and if you agree with me you're too guilty of that. It's because no one wants to take the pain, but are ready to jump for anything that is free.
Remember the easier way is always the toughest way
Once there was a lark singing in the forest and a farmer was passing by. The lark stopped him and asked, "What do you have in the box and where are you going?"
The farmer replied that he had worms and that he was going to the market to trade them for some feathers. The lark said, "I have many feathers.
I will pluck one and give it to you and that will save me looking for worms." The farmer gave the worms to the lark and the lark plucked a feather and gave it in return.
The next day the same thing happened and the day after and on and on until a day came that the lark had no more feathers.
Now it couldn't fly and hunt for worms. It started looking ugly and stopped singing and very soon it died.
That's why I said above that the easier way always turns out to be the tougher way and in the end you only regret.
The same holds true in our lives. Most of the times we look for the easier way, which actually ends up being the hardest way.
People who're not motivated in life always look for the easier way. In other ways these are people whom you can put in the losers group.
I will give a simple example to illustrate my point here...
If you want to clear the weeds in your garden. There are two ways to do it, the easier way and the tougher way.
You can roll a grass cutter to get rid of the weeds, this is easier way which will make your garden look OK for a while, but not permanently as you're looking for a short-cut. The temporary solution.
But the tougher way is going down on your knees and pulling out the weeds by the root.
Doing this by hands is painful and time consuming, but this solution will ensure that the weeds stay away for longer time.
Remember in real life its very easy to fall prey to something that seems like the easier way to reach your dreams which in reality is the wrong way.
It happens because in today's fierce and competitive era everyone is looking for temporary and instant solutions, ignoring the root.
You want quick solution but in the process you forget that getting success in life cannot happen in one minute which eventually turns into failure and disappointments.
To be honest there is no end to writing about inspiring stories of success and motivation. The point is what are you up to after reading this short motivational stories.

But it will be useful to you only when you're ready to take action life.
